Here we go!

This is my first post.  After giving it some thought I decided to share with you some of the things that I have going on in my life as well as some projects I have worked on.  We will have to see how this pans out....ha ha!

First off I would like to wish
my beautiful daughter, Amy
a Happy Birthday

I do, as you probably have read on my profile,
love all types of art.
My favorite is fiber art.
So today's post is about....

Knitting

Project -- felted handbag

It was knit using a entrelac knitting pattern.  For you knitters out there, this calls for a lot of turning -- knit one row TURN
then purl....I have learned to knit backwards
instead of turning the project
and purling and have
found it to be easy and
makes to project go much faster.

I used a coloring changing yarn called Noro -- color Kureyon.
I was happy with the outcome.
This is the purse after knitting....

I do enjoy felting some of my knitted
projects.  This done by using 100% wool yarn
and then putting the finished project in the
wash machine on hot wash and cool rinse.
I usually put a big bath towel in there
with it to make it felt better.
After two or three washings
(or whenever you are happy with it)
it will be ready.

After felting....

Project completed....

Now to find some money to put in there
and off to shopping I go....

Enjoy your blessed day, my friends!

Beth

I'm too blessed to be stressed!!!!

The way to happiness:
keep your heart free from hate,
your mind from worry,
live simply,
expect little, give much.

What a great first post. I do knit and crochet, but am limited. I used to call my Mom for help when I got stuck and she would help me fix it but since she passed away 12 years ago I have knit in total 1 1/4 slippers! LOL! She would have loved this blog as she was awesome at knitting just like you. Your handbag is gorgeous! Another Happy Birthday wish to Amy!!

What a beautiful purse. I used to knit years ago but have now turned to crochet. Just can't stop making afghans and other crafts. Now, if only I could sew!

Hello to your new blog. Happy birthday Amy - I didn't know you had a daughter. I love your knitted bag - I didn't know you did that either. lol. I still have a lot to learn.

Hi Beth, how exciting to be one of your first followers on your first post!! Rem drops little things about you on his blog, so I have always wondered a bit about you and your life and interests. The cool header with the crayons and saying, is that hanging in your house, did you make it? It is AWESOME!!! And I love the felted purse, it really makes a difference after the felting. Until now, felting has been a mystery to me, so you explained it so well.

Hi Beth, that purse is amazing. I used to knit a little, but I was always more fond of crocheting. I also love to read and get lost in books for days. I like to read a lot of different books, right now I am searching for a good book about Steve Jobs. I think he was an interesting man and want to know more. Any suggestions?? My favorite book is A Tree Grows in Brooklyn.I have another blog also, but havent touched it for a while. Your page set up is really nice, I love it and good luck.

Hi Beth! Love your post!
I have never heard of an "entrelac knitting pattern", but it is beautiful! Knit backwards?! I can barely go forward and keep the stitches all the same length! LOL

Must be scary after all of that work to wash 100% wool yarn in HOT Water, but it came out beautiful as always! I'm so glad you started a blog on your Fiber Art!
Hugs, Kathy
